so i got this beautiful pied zenra finch male called ziz 2 months ago. he's adorable in every way. i found something quite odd though, his trust for humans, he happily jumped on my hand within a few days of having him whilst i was giving his cage a clean, i found this so unusual.
now 2 months on he is handtame within his cage, and out, flying around my room proudly, sitting on my shoulder, letting me stroke him, and he goes in his cage when hes bored or i move the cage onto my bed, he just hops straight in quite happily!
i find this odd, i bought him from a petshop so assumed he would be like the other two i got from there, who are very overly cautious of evrything, is it possible he was handfed as a baby bird??
or could there be another explanation for this ?
another question is about my older finches, apache and tear. i decided to put their cage side by side to ziz's for a change and was happy with the results as the males apache and ziz got on well- i was half expecting arguments. but they cuddled up to each other against the bars and seemed happy. i've repeated this for a few days, and watched as apache taught ziz he can have a bath in his drinking water, which was cute though its bad enough having one who bathes in his drinking water whenever he feels like it!!
yesterday i noticed a complete change of behaviour in apache and tear, these once more or less wild birds werent going mental as i cleaned them out or shuffling away from the bars where i stand chatting to them, they seem more calm and content than ive seen them for the one and a half years ive had them!
could this be due to the exposure theyre getting to a calmer bird, who theyve seen on my hand, i know theyre flock birds who do like to copy each other so is it possible theyre learning from his reaction to me?? if so i find this odd, as usually wouldnt birds act in numbers and seeing he is behaving the most unusually ignore him? i thought he would become more like them, a bit more wild but the opposite thing has happened!!
anyone got any ideas? everyones opinions would be helpful, i find bird psychology and behviours fascinating so would love hearing other peoples theories on my birds behaviours =)
thanks in advance =)

Re: a few questions
I think it's terrific that they seem to be more trusting of you now.
I know that my goldbreasts, while not terribly flighty, certainly did get excited if I was cleaning their cage, and flew back and forth a lot. But when the male died, and I got my society finch to keep the female GB company, she became a lot more relaxed. She often just sits on her perch and watches me as I clean. Doesn't fly around in a panic, as long as I don't try to wipe the perch she's on!
The calm society finch has shown her there is nothing to fear.
