Gouldians and Cutthroats?

Post by chas5131 » Wed Jun 09, 2010 7:16 pm

Saw some cutthroats the other day and I want them.
Have two Gouldians in the cage which is 24"x20"x30t.
A larger cage has been shipped. It is 37"Wx24D"x57T"
If I buy the cutthroats now they will have to go into the small cage until the larger one is delivered.
How bad would it be to have the Gouldians and the Cutthroats in the same cage for a few days ?

I hate to burst anyones bubble but.....Being as how cut-throats are known to be aggressive I wouldn't even attempt to put them in with passive sweet gouldians...if somethng goes wrong during those few days have you thought about where you would put them?

That is one question I could not answer and, therefore, I posted my question?.

Glad you asked. =D> I sure hope I didn't burst your bubble. :(
Have you tried to see if you could give a deposit and have them hold the cut-throats until you get your cage. :?: t is always worth a try, especially if it is only for a few days. :D

I agree... I would not put them in a cage with gouldians.

Agreed...I tried that and the cutthroats tried to kill my gouldians. :(

Even if they were compatable, you should never put new birds with your existing birds without a good lengthy quarentine. :?
You could always pick up an inexpensive cage. Later you could always use it as a quarentine cage, a hospital cage, a traveling cage...... there are so many times when an extra empty cage is handy :D

I've had mine with Gouldians and received no problems. I really think it depends on the birds themselves.

I agree. A small hospital cage can be bought anywhere from $10 to $20, and it would be good enough to house the new birds temporarily, until the large cage comes. Then each pair can have their own space in one of the larger cages. :)

I split off the remainder of this thread to "Cut-throat Behaviour" as I thought I was high-jacking the thread.
