Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since I've been on, but I've been reading - and so far it sounds like there have been quite a few successfully nests out there!
Congrats!
Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a pair of Strawberry Finches, and I feel like it's Christmas eve and I can't rest

. I've been doing my research, and am comfortable bringing them home. But all the same - i would LOVE to have any thoughts/stories/suggestions any of you may have with regard to this particular species.
I have been gradually enlarging my "cages" (hubby is handling it much better than requesting a walk-in aviary right off the bat

, and have a decently large flight cage they will have to themselves. I have greenery (silk) up in it, a few perches (widely spaced to allow flight), water and all the goodies. I won't be providing a nest until they've had a bit of time to acclimatize. I know they do enjoy live foods, but there is definitely debate about whether they Require or it on a regular basis - or essentially through the breeding season.
any thoughts?
Clearly I want to breed these little charmers, so anything that can be helpful is Hugely appreciated!!
Thanks !
