My males will be the death of me...

Post by Ameza » Thu Jun 17, 2010 7:07 am

Hi guys...

I am getting really annoyed about my two males here.... they are just over 3 months old now and god!

I put them in seperate cages few weeks ago so the other one could finish is molt in peace and get new feathers without being plucked. I kept their cages side by side and they did everything together. Now yesterday I decided to join them again, they were really adorable and happy. But now this morning I was awoken by them fighting and fighting and fighting...

I don't know what to do :x My mother doesn't really want more birds but I don't like having them in different cages all alone. Do you think there is any change that they will get along some day? Because if not I kind of need to find them new male or female buddies or something since I don't want them to be alone in their cage for a long time.

Any thoughs or ideas? ](*,)

You could try removing one of them from their cage and re-arranging EVERYTHING (perches, food and water dishes, nest?, toys, swings) in that cage. Then put them both in the cage at the same time. Good luck.

There are some birds that just will NOT get along with each other. One method that I have used is to put a wire grate divider in the cage, so they can see each other, but they cannot get to each other to fight. After a few weeks like this, they sometimes settle down.

BUT if both birds want to be the dominant bird, the fighting will not stop until one backs down and accepts his position as #2.
