i have only had my finches for a few days and it turns out that i have two male finches. the first day only temo sang but the second day buster started to sing. temo seems to be the alpha and sings the loudest while buster will repeat his song up to three times.
buster is missing a few feathers on top of his head but he is active, eating, and singing. i was concerned that he may get cold at night, since they have chosen to sleep on the top of the basket nest. is this normal for two males?
i went and got a fuzzy nest thing so at least when they are cuddling on the top at night they will be warmer. should i be concerned about buster's bald spot?
thanks in advance. these guys are so cool. and i love their singing and chirping.

Re: spice finch questions
There is always the chance that Buster has been plucked. Keep an eye on them, just in case Temo is the plucker. A good diet, including eggfood for extra protein, and he should grow back those feathers in a short time.
I don't know anything about Spice finches to know if they are nest sleepers or not.

Re: spice finch questions
thank you. i was going to try to give them some egg tomorrow. unfortunately, they were not in the best of pet shop environments so i am hoping they will be happier and not pick on each other now that they have a nice flight cage to fly around in. thanks!

Re: spice finch questions
I too have 2 male spice finches. (They were rescues so I didn't get to choose the sex.) They are constantly singing and displaying to each other and acting like a loving couple. They actually build nests and sit in them for a while... I wonder when they will get tired of that and figure out that there's no use building them...
Anyway, long story short, they get along just fine.
If they like the nest why not let them sleep in the nest.

I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.
