I well im new to the bird keeping hobie and recently bought two lovely zebra finches in my local petshop. I have them two weeks and I plan on breeding them.
So I was wondering how long it would take for them to bond. I have them in a all wire cage....
I will be purchasing breeding cages this weekend and possibly some more finches next week but of a different species.
Ill put them in the breeding cage when I get it but will I put a nest box in straight away? Any help would be great thanks

Welcome to the forum, and the wonderful world of finchkeeping.
Unless the petstore were able to tell you their exacy ages, I would wait a little while before breeding them. The reason I say this, is as someone who has sold to pet stores, most of the zebras they receive are just finished their first molt. This would make them only a couple of months old which could just end up being the cause of health problems for the hen later on.
Once again welcome and enjoy the silly antics of your zebras.

My finches live in my bedroom. And they are both loud singing males! Lol I've learned to tune them out early in the morning, though. You get used to it after a while.
I don't know how long it'd take them to bond and start trying to breed. My two are boys (as I did not want babies), but they act like a mated pair. They were snuggling together and going through the mating motions almost immediately! It may not take long at all!
