If this is for a class project, you better get another pair of reliable breeders or you may end up with no chicks. I would choose societies or if you want to get a little more risky, african silverbills. Both are readily available, and pretty reliable breeders. I haven't owned silverbills, but from what I've read they are good breeders.

I was told by a breeder at a show this weekend that Cutthroats are also prolific breeders. I have a pair of Silverbills. They've been with me about a month. They immediately took to a nest and laid 4 eggs but they seem to be particularly nervous little guys so I doubt the eggs will hatch. Changing food and water will send them out of the nest for extended time periods. Perhaps just my two being new, I'm not sure but will keep trying.

I have never been able to breed Silverbills in a cage, however in an aviary they are as prolific as zebras.
Cutthroats will breed in a cage but generally will not follow through with the raising of the young. They usually wind up abandoning the chicks or throwing them out of the nest. And again they do successfully breed and raise in an aviary.
Shaftails are pretty good at breeding in a cage. Why not give them a try?

Zebbies are great, reliable breeders for a project and one can never 'learn' enough in my opinion. Why just today Candace taught me how an egg hatches! I honestly have never thought to look it up. So even if you have bred Zebras before, perhaps for your project you can go in depth on the whole process and then let us know what you find?
