how do I upload pictures of my birds to the forum?
Hi All,
I'm trying to up load pictures of my birthday birds and it keeps telling me the size is too large. I've reset my camera to 3m the size the instruction says is to be used for pictures that will post to the web or emailed. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
thanks for all or any help
Yvonne

I can never get mine to upload either so I use a sight like photo bucket and then download them from there. I wish I could avoid that step....but am in the same boat as you are.... always says they are too big

Join Photobucket (Free) put your pics on there in your own album....then copy and paste onto here (Use the IMG code) they will be reduced to forum size for you.

You can attach photos to your posts by going to the 'attachment' section just below where you are writing your post, browse your computer for the photo(s) you want, and click to attach.yvonnew wrote:Well, I just joined Photobucket and down loaded the pictures of my birds and somehow I still can't get them from Photobucket to this forum??? Edited to add that you no longer need to have them on a website like photobucket before you can post them.

Re: how do I upload pictures of my birds to the forum?
hi Fran
thanks for trying to help but, that is just what I'm doing
I'm writing my message in the message body and then I'm moving down to the upload attachment area, I'm browsing my computer and once I find the photo I'm hitting the add the file button and it seems to be loading then I get the too big message in red and no photo has been attached
What can I be doing wrong?

It should resize for you, but I guess there's still a maximum size.
If you don't have a software program to re-size your pictures, here's a quick way to do it:
find the pics on your computer, select the pictures (highlight them), then right click on them and you should get some choices pop up. Pick "send to..." then choose "mail recipient". It will ask if you want to make the pics smaller for mailing. Say yes to making them smaller. It should open your mail program with the pics attached. SAve the message as a draft. Then you can open your draft folder, open the message, and detach the smaller version pictures to your desktop. Then try uploading those ones.

If you just want to attach a picture to the post you are limited to 256KB. If your file is bigger it will not be attached and you will get an error:
The file is too big, maximum allowed size is 256 KiB.
If you want to use Photobucket and you already uploaded pictures to the Photobucket website then you need to copy url address of your picture (it is usually done by clicking right button on the picture and selecting copy image URL) and then paste this address in the message body by clicking on the Img button and then paste URL link (ctrl+v).

Re: how do I upload pictures of my birds to the forum?
With photbucket make sure you are highlighting and copying the [img] choice. It is the center choice and what you need for a forum.
You also had to go to your board prference page of your profile on this forum and disabble BBCode... whatever that is......
I am not computer litterate and no one could tell me how to do it....everything they told me did not work but I just kept trying different things and this is what worked. Really simple, disable BBCode and copy the [img] chioce.
You can also click on the BBCode at the bottom of everypost...you will see the squares for checking or unchecking next time you psot. But you must do this everytime you want to post pictures Try seeding what you just did but clear that box before hitting submit.
Hope to see those birds soon

I use Franny's method too. It works like a charm!

Re: how do I upload pictures of my birds to the forum?
After uploading the pics from my camera to my computer I use Photoshop to crop them as I like. I edit the size right there by making the size of the largest side (width or height) of the photo at 7" and the pixels at 72. That reduces photos suitably for most forums. Then I use the sharpen feature to sharpen the photo 1 level and save it to my computer and use the upload feather in the message page when I want to include some pics here.
Good luck.
Good luck.
