Not necessarily... in fact I think it's pretty unlikely you got a banded imported bird from a pet store..
What type of bird is it? That might help..

I just got them the other day...
And I am trying to figure out what the band means.. Its just the one bird that has the band. The other one dont.

Yeah the chances of them being imported is slim especially since there is a huge abundance of them in the US.
The only ones you'd likely to see imported would be extremely rare varieties like new mutations (like when the Pearls were first brought over).
It's probably just a custom closed band that particular breeder used.
You could probably try contacting the store you purchased them from to see if they know where the birds were acquired - though they probably don't or won't remember :/

Thanks... They probably dont know cause they have alot of birds.. I guess i'm not really worried... I guess sooner then later I will do research what the band mean... I'm just wondering if I have a male and female.

Yes it is not too likely that a Society Finch is imported these days - possible but not likely.
The best you can do is to watch and see if it sings or not. If it does then it's a male. If it chirps like a cricket - it's a female.

I can tell you that only one sings.. The one that has the band on the leg dont sing at all. It sometimes chirps..
When the one is singing the other one just looks around and sits there. I think sometimes it thinks the other one that sings is nuts or crazy... They are soothing to listen too.

Are they soppose to try and manic other birds? The one that sings does nothing but try manic another bird that he hears... Even the ones that are on tv or outside..
