So...
Our Cage is small. And With our 2 birds they made a mess of the cage.
So it had to be cleaned once every week or so. But It should have been
done more often. Now Adding a third bird to the cage it makes a bigger
mess. I just cleaned the cage about 2 days ago and it is due for a
cleaning agaain. The thing is we don't get thhe news paper. SO my supply
of news paper is now very low. AAre there any other options for this?
Help!

You could try using a different type of bedding/litter at the bottom because sometimes those last longer without looking really dirty, and you can mix it up so the poop will go to the bottom.
Or, there are lots of kinds of newspapers that are free. Like at my college, I get a lot of newspaper for free. In some of my cages I use corn cob litter and that lasts like a week and half-two weeks without having to change it.
I've also seen people keep all the seed hulls, and use that to spread over the bottom

I've used the cob bedding also, and I've used the unscented paper-product fluffy stuff that you can get in large bags at the pet stores.
The only problem is if you put a bathing dish in the cage for your finches. The cob bedding can easily get bacteria in it and mold will start. I'm not sure how the fluffy paper stuff would react to moisture but I imagine that it wouldn't be good. My parakeets don't take bathes in a bathing dish and I spritz them so the bedding doesn't get overly wet.
I'm back to plain newspaper for my finches and canaries, the cob or the paper-product bedding for my parakeets.
I clean my cages every day. It may just have to be the case for you if you find the cages disagreeably messy. If your cage has a slide-out bottom that may be of help to you as you can slide the tray out and clean it in the sink.
You may ask your neighbors if they get a daily paper.....a lot of people would love to give away their papers and not have to take them in to the recycling center. Good luck!

i have use everything in the past but have found nothing easier to clean up or better than plain old sand, you can even seive the poo out of it and put it back down if it does not smell to much..then i just vacuum it out of the bottom of the cage and put more in ..its also very cheap and does not get thrown all over the place by the birds landing on the bottom of the cage
