Through all my research I see that many many breeders & importers offer shipping (forgive me if this has already been discussed). My initial reaction was "that seems horrible" however, seeing that some of the species I am looking for are not readily available I'm wondering what kind of success you have had with shipping. I guess it just scares me. What are your thoughts?

I have both sent and received birds via USPS and have never had any problems :D .

If the shipper properly ships the birds - the birds do fine. This means shipping only when the temperatures are appropriate to do so (below 85 and above 60), properly preparing the shipping box so the birds have food and water during the shipment and good communication with the buyer as to the shipping process.

I've never shipped by airlines, but the same rules apply. The nice thing about airline shipping is the birds get to you within a few hours. But you do need to be near a major airport.
