I can't imagine how you would do it. You would need really good light to grow the grass, how would you water it? If you are talking about putting a layer of dirt in the tray in the bottom of the cage, then sowing grass seed on it, you would have to keep the tray out of the cage till the grass got established, and then once you put the tray back in the cage, the birds would make short work of it. In no time at all, you would just have dirt everywhere. I can see a grass floor in an outside aviary, but not in a cage, or even a walk-in flight cage.

I actually did this for my aviaries last summer. I had some LARGE ones that I use summer only and i set dirt in the trays tossed bird seed watered and wala had grass,
sadly within a week EACH TIME I TRIED the birds destroyed everything and indeed left only dirt, lol

I have grass, but mostly plants growing in mine. I love the look and the birds seem to enjoy it.

I'm with FF, in one of my outdoor aviaries I tried planting grass to help with amongst other things soil erosion as there was quite a bit of water flowing past the aviary but to no avail, my birds would graze the grass like cattle and eventually I gave up
