real grass on bottom of a cage?

real grass on bottom of a cage?
has anyboby try to grow real grass in there big flight cage that in a house instade of using paper or other type of stuff to use on the bottom of a cage. if so how did you do it if you like to share it. like to know if it works before i try it.

I can't imagine how you would do it. You would need really good light to grow the grass, how would you water it? If you are talking about putting a layer of dirt in the tray in the bottom of the cage, then sowing grass seed on it, you would have to keep the tray out of the cage till the grass got established, and then once you put the tray back in the cage, the birds would make short work of it. In no time at all, you would just have dirt everywhere. I can see a grass floor in an outside aviary, but not in a cage, or even a walk-in flight cage.

I actually did this for my aviaries last summer. I had some LARGE ones that I use summer only and i set dirt in the trays tossed bird seed watered and wala had grass,
sadly within a week EACH TIME I TRIED the birds destroyed everything and indeed left only dirt, lol
