Is this NORMAL?

Post by jamezyboo21 » Fri Jun 06, 2008 9:30 pm

My male gouldian sings to my female all the time and toaday for the first time ever they have both been checking out the wicker nest going in and out of it but they always try pecking at each other not hurting eachother though. They both actually were in the nest together at the same time. Every once in a while the hen will make a wierd noise trying to chase him away from her and sometimes he does it to her, are they fighting or is that how they usually act? They dont actually really touch eachother when they try to peck its more luck there trying to tell eachother to stay away or dont get too close.

My adult Gouldians are not cuddly at all, even when breeding, they halfway ignored each other. My juvie Gouldians will all line up together on a perch.

I think this is normal behavior for gouldians. I have a cock and hen that I assumed didn't even like each other because they were always pecking at one another. Now they are raising their first clutch.

Yeah, last night my male gould went into the nest and all night the female was trying to get in with him and everytime she tried to jump in he was right at the entrance pecking at her. today i saw her get in with him but after a few seconds he forced her out.

Don't blame him....soon as you let a woman over the threshold...cushions everywhere...new drapes...nag nag nag. And the never ending arguments...

But notice that the male is obviously on the left, the one with his chest all puffed out and flapping his wings, going nowhere, while the one with possession of the goods (fruit) must be the female!
