Oh, and on the months where there is more than one way to write the fraction, such as 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6 = 4/8 = 5/10 = 6/12, you should get a pair of finches for each fraction possible.

Hey, I taught my kids to understand fractions before they were even in kindergarten by using the half-, third- and quarter- birthdays. Offer a kid cake, sprinkles, and maybe a present (size based on size of fraction) gets them interested and learning like you can't believe.

There's always an excuse to buy another finch. And then you can't get just one, they need a companion....or two....but odd numbers are never good, so not two companions but three...

That's awesome! Starting early with math is a very good idea. It was never my strong point.
