Traveling long distance with my finches - help!

Post by CavaCava » Mon Nov 10, 2014 11:56 am

Hi Friends,
I am going to be moving from Florida back to NYC next month...I have 4 finches and plan on bringing them. While I am flying up, we are having our car driven up by a friend. He said taking the finches is no problem but is concerned that when he stops in various places to stretch his legs, sometimes up to 40 minutes, the Finches won't be able to handle the cold temps. Thoughts?

From my research I have found that I will get a smaller travel cage, plenty of covered water/food (so as not to spill) and keep the cage covered with a light blanket and then a thicker one when our friend stops with the back slightly against (not entirely) the seat for ventilation. :D

I welcome all suggestions regarding this - I don't want my finches to die!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions! :-H

Hmm....great question!

We had the opposite issue - heat!

I think a thicker blanket should do the trick.
If he blasts the heat right before he stops, it shouldn't get unreasonably cold. And he could always turn on the heat for a few minutes to warm it back up.
Humum to....

1 Weaver
