Introducing new birds

So I'm in the process of quarantining my 2 new boys and am starting to think about adding them to my double flight. (I'll do a thread on updated pictures of Dandy and his tail feathers later. They've become so much more active since I brought them home, it's hard to get pictures!) They've been separated for 4-5 weeks now.

I know the finchinfo website says to remove all décor from the cage, rearrange, and then put all birds back simultaneously, but I'm worried that my new boys won't have enough muscle to fly away if/when they start figuring out the pecking order. Would I be better off dividing the double flight so the new boys can establish some muscle before I mix everyone? Or am I just over thinking things? They were in a 30x18x18 flight cage before I brought them home, if that helps anything.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Zebras are tuff... so I don't think you are over thinking this at all. I think adding your new birds to the double flight with the divider in, is a great step toward housing your birds peacefully. It will give them all a chance to get to know one other a little before they actually have to live together. I am going to be doing this before I house my BCCB pair together. My male is a bit aggressive and I want to let the 2 get familiar with each other before removing the divider. Best of luck to you and your flock
