I wouldn't buy one, I'd make one :)

I usually pick up small cages (which I use as hospital cages) second hand, in yard/garage sales. I then clean them with a white vinegar/water solution, and follow up with hot soapy water.

I have paid as little as $5.00.

I also don't feel the need to buy a hospital cage, I simply take one of my small cages to use. I can add a heat lamp to it, and if I need more privacy for the bird or to keep heat in, I can always cover sides, back etc with a towel. I've seen some wonderful hospital cage setups, but they are usually pricey.

I agree with Sally. I use a 12inch by 12inch small cage for a hospital cage. I hook a heat bulb on one side and put the cage in my small bathroom. That way I can control the temperature better and I usually keep any sick finches there as a quarantine, until I know more what is wrong etc. Those small cages are fairly cheap at local pet stores.

I over paid as a victim of circumstance :(
$29 for a 12" W x 13"H x 10"D at a small local pet store.

One weekend morning I found one of my beloved Gouldians sitting on the lowest perch in the bottom corner of the cage all fluffed up with his head tucked under his wing.
At the time I did not have a hospital cage so I rushed to the closest pet shop which is about a mile away and bought it there.
Thank goodness I already had a heat lamp, and was able to nurse him back to health.

Since then I've been to a couple of bird marts and have seen comparable cages priced from $8-$12
