Water Buddy Question

I have swapped out to Water Buddies (still have another water source in the cage in case some of my finches are slow learners) and am wondering how often it is necessary to change the water in these since they are a "closed system." I do put some liquid vitamin drops in this water, so I guess that is only effective for about a day, but other than that, how often to people change the water in these? Still every day? Thanks for any guidance.

If you put liquid vitamins in the water I would change the water daily. However, I only put vitamins in about twice a week. Not every day. If you give just plain water, again change daily.

But if you add something like Sparkle, or Virkon S, it helps inhibit bacterial growth, and you might be able to leave the water for 4 or 5 days. After the 5 days, do a couple of days with vitamins/supplements, (changed each day) then back to water with virkon for 5 days, and so on.

Others may do differently, but for sure with vitamins, make fresh daily.
