Last week I found one of my female Owls dead in the flight cage. I had thought since we'd gotten her that she was an '03 due to the red leg band (red was the 2003 colour for our national society), but never really looked at it.
We bought her December 2006 along with a leg band-less hen from someone in Quebec.
When she passed I finally had a look at her band - you wont believe what it read:
TV68 693 NB 06 !!! Our birds are from the same breeder in Holland and even the same year!!! How crazy is that?

When will we get some Fawn Owls? We don't have them in the states.Hilary wrote:Wow - great information! I can't believe that Petsmart is selling birds that originated in The Netherlands! They must be sourcing from all over. Congrats!
2 polydactyl Snowflake felines and a new Panther non-poly feline.. Working on building the bloodline of the local Fawn Owls.

as far as i know they do ship some species worldwide , the bird trading compagnies here asking specified birds like zebras , silverbills , societies ,canaries , owls ...etc . These are the most cheap ones for them to buy and guessing they got paid big time . when we bring in these birds we get between 2 and 5 euro's ( 4 - 7 usd ) each . i am still suprised they didn't ship fawn or zebras and societies with feathers on the head thats like sticking out like a mohawk
