I've been pondering building new cages for some of my birds for quite a while. I just haven't been finding cages that are really the right size and bar spacing.
Problem is, I don't really know how to build indoor cages. The cage floor in particular I really have no idea how to deal with, and I haven't found any guides that address making a floor and tray for an indoor cage. So any good guides on building indoor cages?

Hi; welcome to the finch form.
First of all if you will up date your profilewith your location( i'm from South Carolina USA ). and tell us a little about your self, #, and kind of birds.we can better help you.
Then go to the section called housing you will find posts from people who have or are building their own cages and aviarys. how big a cage do you want to build? Finches are flight birds so length and width are more important than hight, in most cases. but then there are Button Quail a type of finch that staies on the floor but when startledfly straight up about 3 feet so they need atleast that high a cage. also some birds prefer tree tops while other like it a little lower.
so I recomend you go to the section called species and read about the birds you have and birds you want to see what they need.
Sally is one that can help you a lot with info about your birds and there are others on here like liz in Canada. We have people on here from all over the World. Remember, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
