Band Question

Post by JohnBoy » Sat Sep 05, 2009 6:18 pm

I just noticed that the new male Gould I bought last week has a red band on one leg and a black on the other. Is this a code about the genetics or something??

Unless it has numbering from one of the official bird/finch societies, then its just breeder preference.
Goulds, Owls, Gold Breasts, Stars, Zebras, Societies
An obscene number of chicks and eggs
And an incredibly rare St. Goldena Breast finch
Anyone want some finches???

I agree - there is no "colour code" anywhere that I'm aware of. If it's not engraved then it's up to the breeder as to what colour he puts on which leg.
