Post by lovemyfinch » Mon Oct 19, 2009 7:45 am

Just wondering is this what an egg looks like when it begins hatching :?: I just added a negative of the pic.

It could well be about to hatch! =D>

BTW - where did you get your candler (light) and how much did it cost? I got mine on eBay from the UK - very similar to yours.

I bought the light at Zellers Liz, $4.99 plus taxes. It is just a led light on a small skinny gooseneck. Works great, hasn't steared me wrong yet.

That would be great if it is hatching, how long does it usually take? This is the societies first time fostering with me it has been 14 days yesterday, shaftails. [-o<

Crap - now I'm going to Zellers to get a spare candler! Where in Zellers... in the lighting section or in the pet section?

It can take anywhere from an hour to almost 24 hours - it depends on the chick and perhaps on whether the 'parents' want to help it out.

Woohoo for more babies! =D>

In the section where you buy the flashlights and nightlights, they even have them at the cash registers sometimes. It has 2 buttons on it one for the led light and the other for a red lazer beam. The boys use the laser beam to keep the cats busy. When I first bought it I figured I would give it a try, none of the pet stores have them. And go figure it works just fine. :D I'm off to Zellers this morning as well,, the button finally started to stick. I must have candled too many eggs so far

I had a nice one by Black and Decker, they called it a small worm light. That was great for candling lovebird eggs without touching them.
