I have never ordered birds, so I can't vouch for this company, (but maybe some members on the Forum can). However, maybe It's worth your time checking it out.

Re: Importing from Europe
I along with two other people recently did bring several young pairs, 2 different mutations of shaft tails into the states from Europe (some from Belgium and Holland) (by way of Canada) along with European (size) Chestnut Breast Mannikins (little bigger than the CBM you typically see). We brought them in via by way of a Canadian broker. He did most the work in bringing them in and contacted my friend as soon as he had them. The transaction took almost a year to do and is not cheap. The birds have to go through quarantining process in Canada once they arrive in Canada and before entering the states.
The shaft tail mutations are pearls and gray, as far as I know we are the only 3 to have these in the states. We also have fawns split to both mutations.
I am in Florida and birds are frequently shipped from PRico into the states without all the paperwork and they do not go through the quarantining process like they would if coming in from Canada. You can get a variety of species. Several people I know here have easily had bird flown in from PRico. The breeders raise numbers of birds, some release them in the areas near their homes, offer plenty of food to keep them close and then net them when it comes time to sell. Others breed in cages.

Re: Importing from Europe
cindy wow Cindy, we have a lot of catching up to do! Congrats on the successful imports. And yes shipping from Puerto Rico is very easy, I've done it with no problems...
Now you can get many species from Puerto Rico as many birds have been released on the island and colonized.. Since they are invasives anybody can go out and catch them (I've seen whydahs, tricolor nuns, zebras and more with my own eyes, but I know there are way more like strawberries) but birds (and many other things) are also (now I'm saying this as my family is from Puerto Rico, in no way am I trying to trash talk) easily brought into Puerto Rico (mostly smuggled) from other places and then just as easily get shipped into the states as if they were bred on the island,
