Hey Mono - that's fantastic and amazing that your friend was able to re-capture around 25 of his birds! =D> WOW Congratulations to him. I guess he will put a lock on the aviary door the next time he goes away from the house. How many were in there?

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I feel somewhat hopeful to know that some people have had success catching their birds. I got my female out of the flight and put her in a divided cage near the aviary. I have the other half of the cage with food and water and male parrot finch did fly in I could easily pull the string from inside my house and catch him. The problem is I didn't see him at all yesterday :(
I'm going to leave the female in there for one more day, but if I don't see him I'm going to put her in the aviary.

On another note my little wild bird that hangs around and eat the fallen seeds for the aviary has been enjoying my cage full of food. He goes in eats the food and leaves. I will try to post a picture of him later as he is really cute and not scared of me at all :D

I'm sorry your little guy is not back home yet. He may and that wild bird might be the one to entice him in. Good luck! [-o<

Wow, how terrible. But it sounds like you might still be able to catch him. Praying for a safe return. [-o<

I'm sorry to hear about your bird getting loose :( I had that happen once and watched all my Gouldians fly away into the highest trees they could find! It was heart wrenching. :(

Parrots love water - is there a source of water near by for him to drink from? He has to be getting water from somewhere and not from your trap cage?

L in Ontario, I don't think even my friend could give you the final tally. His aviary is full of Zebras Finches and Diamond doves which breed very happily all season. He does not really track clutches etc and at the end of a breeding season catches the young to sell. He caught most and only really noticed the loss of his 4 canaries.

Isabird I really hope you see him again. Perhaps he slauntered off to check out a nesting site for that desirable hen you have luring him in!
