I started with a male zebra and a society in a very small cage. A few years later I had over a hundred, mostly Zebra mutations (bf, ff, bc, bb, ob, cfw, etc.) . After a divorce (and having to sell all but a dozen) I am now starting a small breeding program again and am loving it. These silly little birds make me smile!
Finches are like potatoe chips. You can't have just one.

Yes!
When I had a cage filled with societies, I always thought of them as the happiest little creatures in the world. Truly.

They were never unhappy or stressed or nasty with each other. They just bopped around their perches, singing and dancing all day long.

They were just such a delightful lot.
My zebras are a tad bit less jolly, but still very happy creatures. They make me smile.
Humum to....

CommaHolly ....but it's still coming. :D I love to tease and that's what I would tell my husband. Yes, I'm sure there's always another reason you can find to convince him to buy you another finch. Finchaholic... I just read your "Finches are like potatoe chips. You can't have just one." to my husband. He laughed! Yes finches bring a lot of joy. I can't imagine what my life would have been like without them!

Hello.
Was very thrilled to read your experience. But just incase you are planning to get more finches. Please select them based on their active ness and non defective features. It'll be a huge responsibility if we don't choose our finches we'll. there's always a lot of taking care involved to make them enjoy their stay with us. So if we get a unhealthy finch in any aspect it'l induce tension until he or she is healthy again.
Good luck with your finches. :)
Have a good day...
Pratheek

M1chaelP That's good advice! I know you have learned this the hard way. It's sad that are and sick and "defective" finches, especially when it's by the hands of neglect as you have seen. Your finches are very lucky that you brought them home and saved them from that life. I hope you're able to bring them to great health and have a long time enjoying them.

Quarter Birthday
Half Birthday
Three-quarter Birthday

And, when necessary
One third birthday, Two-thirds birthday.
One sixth birthday, five-sixths birthday.

and when it's too good to pass up
one-twelfth birthday, five-twelfths birthday, seven-twelfths birthday, eleven-twelfths birthday.

For those who don't do well with fractions, suppose your birthday is in December. So then as you go through the year:
January- 1/12
February- 1/6 (same as 2/12)
March- 1/4 (same as 3/12)
April- 1/3 (same as 4/12 or 2/6)
May- 5/12
June- 1/2 (same as 6/12 or 3/6 or 2/4)
July- 7/12
August- 2/3 (same as 8/12 or 4/6)
September- 3/4 (same as 9/12)
October- 5/6 (same as 10/12)
November- 11/12
December- Birthday (same as 12/12)

Then you add in Valentine's Day, President's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day (July 4th), Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, religious holidays for other religions (truly sorry I cannot include them for you, my fault for my ignorance), there's a Grandparent's Day, isn't there? Secretaries' Day, Teacher's Day....

Never give an enabler a reason to help you...
