My father very simply stated that the life of an egg does not start until there is a heartbeat. He said that if the egg is fertile, the heart is formed and you will have a beat. If the egg is infetile, no heartbeak so the egg is not alive.
Actually, a fertile eggs is simply a cluster of cells. The heart isn't formed until after about 2 days of incubation (for chickens).

It is amazing how cells divide and multiply forming a little being inside of an egg. Think about how incredible it is, the blood flowing, the first heartbeat, skin, organs growing and developing, a life. That little egg in your birds nest is a miracle.

Desserts? Maybe this dicussion would be better followed in 'off topics'. But then again what are post for but to get hijacked and changed :D Thanks for everyones opinions on when they thought the life of the egg started. I learned a few things that I didn't know and that is why I ask so many questions :D
