Hi,

New to the group and looking forward to joining in on the fun! My question is about orange weavers. I just bought three of them thinking I was getting one male and two females, but found out one of the females are turning orange! So, I have heard you can't put two colored males together, and that males should have at least two females. I have been searching far and near with no luck on finding any females available! Is there any other finches that could live with a male to keep him company? I am begining to worry what I am going to do with this new guy. Any suggestions? PS - I did post on the classified area of this forum looking for available females.

The biggest problem with weavers is the hens...as you've found out they can moult out as cocks.
But the main problem is hens of all weavers are nearly identical to the beginner.You unfortunately will not know if you are buying the same species.If they do breed you may produce hybrids which are a no no to the serious breeder.
Buy from a VERY reliable source..preferably a private breeder.
