weird sound?

Post by Pudding » Tue Sep 07, 2010 2:56 am

my zebra finch (male) is making this weird sound every time he goes into their nest...it's like baby zebra(never had them but heard on some vids on youtube),but not as loud...can't explain it,it's very silent but I can still hear it...
so..why is he making that sound?

ps.they are in my home for a month now,they have their nest but haven't mated yet

edit:it's like whining
4 zebra finches: Finch ( black cheek) ;
Sheldon( pied) and Penny( CFW )= 2 chicks that fledged
3 budgies,2 dogs(Pug & Cavalier King Charles Spaniel)

I just added that info because I thought it might be important...about that sound he's making(maybe he's doing that because he wants to mate etc.)

they are not mating in the nest.
if the bird feels okey, there no need to worry about the sound.
mine also making the sound while building inside the nest, but it's not look like baby begging

I think I know what sound you are talking about. I liken it to a baby alligator, oddly enough. I agree with what others have said, I notice it only when he wants to mate, or has found a nest.

Now you've really gotten my attention. :shock: How do you know what a baby alligator sounds like? :lol: Hopefully, you aren't raising them! :lol:

I was really into alligators as a kid. Also, the pet shop near me sells babies for $100. I have no idea what someone in PA would do with one once it grows.
