Aggressive female?

I have a male zebra finch, his previous mate died recently and so I got him a new female friend. With the past mate the male was rather aggressive but not pecking or biting just sometimes would chase the finmale and hiss at her. When I introduced the new female I rearranged the cage and everyting seemed to be fine betweent them for awhile. The male then be came amourous towards the female who didn't show much interest. I introduced some nesting materials and everything seemed fine. The female was assisting with nest building and the aggression seemed relieved. Now however, oddly the female seems to be acting aggressive towards the male. She seems to be chasing him around the cage. I have not seen this before. Is this normal?
They do not seem to be happy when I separate them and call to each other.
Any advice would be appreciated.
