What kind of bird is it?

I have been seeing a pair of finch-size birds on our backyard recently and I would like to find out what is their name.
- Always together as a pair.
- Size and body shape similar to our exotic finches (maybe a little bigger)
- Color: Male is very pretty bright yellow with some black on wings
Female: Hard to describe but reminds me of a color you get when you mix some yellow and green.
Could anyone help me ID them?
TIA

Had to find a pic of a goldfinch but the male has more yellow. His body is almost all yellow and v. bright.
Addendum after looking at more photos of goldfinch:
Hillary, I think you are right! Thank you v. much.
It is an American Goldfinch. Here is a male in full summer breeding plumage and it looks exactly as the one I see on our backyard.
Thanks again ~

My sis-in-law gets those at her place. She says they love thistle seed.

Lucky you! I love those little guys, and have maybe seen 3 in the 7 years I've lived in this house.
