I know that shaft-tails are pushy, but I wonder if a pair will be alright with my 4 goulds? I've seen pictures of people having them together but I'm not sure if it's advisable or not.

My shafties seem to be pushier than other people's, but they even push around my zebs. I haven't tried them with the goulds for just that reason, but who knows - they might be fine.

I have just one Shaft-tail, a male that I acquired along with a Strawberry hen. They had bonded, so get along fine together. I tried putting the Shaft-tail with my lone Green Singer male, which worked for a while, then the GS started bullying the Shaft-tail. I have just found a mate for the Strawberry hen, so I hope I can break up that twosome! I think I will move him in with four Star females--they will probably fight over him! So far, anyway, he seems to be very easygoing.

I have Shafttails and Gouldians in the same flight without any problems. As long as the cage/flight/aviary is large enough - I don't think you will have any problems.

Yesterday I had to move all but one of the goulds out of their hospital cage and the shaft-tails are out of quarantine so I put all five of them in a 3 foot flight cage.

Turns out my goulds were the aggressive ones, they were territorial and kept chasing away the shaft-tails whenever they share the same perch even though the shafts are on the other side of the perch (and there's 5 perches in there).

It's funny that I expected the opposite to happen! I guess if this behavior continues I'll separate them. Thanks everyone for the replies!
