Seed Hopper Question

I was washing out my seed hoppers this morning and I noticed that the bottom part came off easily and snaps back on just fine. But I don't want to pull the other one off if it is not supposed to be removed. :-k

So I was wondering does anybody know if the bottom is supposed to come off or not? Thanks for any help!

On two of my seed hoppers, the bottom has come off while I was taking off the catch tray, dumping the contents of the seed hopper all over the floor. One snapped back together easily, but the other one is still pulling apart. I am just going to glue it together. I don't think the bottom is supposed to come off, the seed hopper can be cleaned without removing the bottom, so any future failures will just be reinforced with glue.

I have lost the bottom portion and strewed seed all over also. It probably isn't a good thing for the bottom to be loose at all.
but for me, the bottom lasts as long as the tabs on the back. I am ending up breaking them off. very discouraging as I can't bear to use another kind of seed dish at this point - too useful.

Thanks for the input....I think I will have my resident Mr. Fixit glue them on for me!

OK, I don't have any seed hoppers but was wanting some from what I've read. This thread has my thinking about looking for alternatives.

Even with the bottom coming off a few, I love my seed hoppers.
