Post by rkn » Wed Feb 27, 2008 3:10 pm

Do they like mirrors? I was thinking of putting one in my enclosure but thought I would ask about it first. I sort of recall hearing that the males will attach their images? ok call me crazy but am too new and don't want to up set the lil gang...

Ditto here - I'll have to go out and find a few for my cages too. Cool!

I have a little mirror toy in with my finches and my canary. They like the kind with the bells on it! Always, ding, ding, ding!

WARNING,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Yes the LOVE mirrors, However if you are trying to set birds up for breeding, SERIOUSLY no mirrors,
Atleast with the gouldians, They sing and dance to themselves in the mirrors and fall in love with them selves and forget all about there lady friends.

Ive had this happen soo many times before I got SMART< I had 1 male gould GORGEOUS bird NO liked any ladies well at age 7 I figured it out removed his darn mirror and he went on to give me his FIRST EVER clutch at age 7. and many more after that, lol

FF - that's really good to point that out (since I'm trying to get my gouldians to breed). Thanks for the tip - now I won't get them mirrors. Just wish I could find them an aphrodisiac of some type!!

FF...thanks for the heads up but I think I will still try it since I won't be breeding my Gouldians.

I tried a mirror with the Green Singer male that was by himself, and he never went near it. Since you have such a nice big enclosure, I don't know if I would bother with mirrors. They should have enough things to play with just puttering around your plants.
