My cage is in the family room. The family room is our office and where we spend most of our daily time.
The lights are on until from 7am to 11-11:30pm most nights, and later on weekends.
I searched the forums and found I should not cover the cage, but is it Ok for them to have the lights on that long?
Should I move the cage into the living/dining room (quiet and darker) in the evening? The other benefit to that would be I could put it where they would get the morning sun, and then move them back before it gets too hot.
Would it be more stressful to move the cage around, or better to leave it in one place?
If I do move it, should I cover it while we move it, so that the world is not whirling by them?
Is it OK to move the cage around the house? (Lights all day?

I like to cover my cage because it is very near our bathroom and being we go right by the cage for our nightly trips to the bathroom I don't want to disturb them with motion and lights coming on and off.
So I feel for my situation covering the cage is needed for visual protection and security. I only cover the front and left side. The right and back side are up against the wall so no cover needed on those sides.

I agree! Though most people don't cover their cages, there is no rule against it. Everyone's house and setup is different, so you just have to work with your situation. Maybe when I am working on the computer at night, my birds are not really singing, they are cussing me out for keeping them up!L in Ontario wrote:Good point Featherharp!
