handfeeding..emergency please help..

handfeeding?

i don't have a heating pad i have a chick thrown out thrice and i have no handfeeding experience..what should i do? i wanna save this little shaft chick..the shaft tail chicks siblings were both decapitated..and dead..what do i do? it's eating well its three days old going 4 hopefully..i placed it in a shoe box on a cup with Kleenex is that okay? im feeding it handfeeding formula and i dont know what to do..anny comments or suggestions? please really need help..i have to keep it warm right but its hot here in the Philippines..does it need a heating pad? all comments appreciated..

You can use a clamp lamp or take the shade off of a table lamp and lean it close to the box and that will give the chick some extra warmth. If the chick is keeping it's mouth open, but not begging it's getting too hot, and it's pantinh to cool down. Move the heat away a couple of inches and see if things change.

When hand feeding you need to warm the chick in your hands. If you have cold hands you can sit and put it on your tummy under your shirt to warm it. Warm the hand feeding formula. A cold chick or cold formula will cause the chick to die because it can't digest food if it is cold or if the food is cold.

Don't forget your formula is the only source of water for the chick....don't make it too dry.

Also, some use Pediolyte instead of water to help in hydration.
