Gouldians - Moulting

Post by Max » Thu Jul 10, 2014 3:27 am

A couple of my gouldians are going through a very heavy moult and are in my aviary which currently holds 7 juveniles and 2 other adults. They are very a little sleepy at the moment, and was wondering if any other Gouldian keepers remove them to isolation whilst they undergo the stressful activity?

Hi Max,

Moving your birds now will just cause more stress for them and do more harm than good. Rather just leave them be for now and ensure they have lots of egg food for protein. It's quite normal for them to look a bit 'under the weather' when moulting.

If they are already stressed I would not move them and possibly stress them even more. There is no reason why they all can't stay together during a molt.
good luck
