I am planning on a through wipe down and cleaning this weekend sometime. Advise on rearranging cage, nests and plants. I have no breedings going on, and newly acquired two European goldfinches in the cage, so I didn't want to shake things up too much for everyone. Should I periodically rearrange anyhow, so I can let everyone start over building nests? I have zebras as well who will use anything and everything to pack into their house. Lol!

No specific tips on rearranging, but we WILL need to see pics of those new goldfinches!

I don't rearrange that often, but when I do, I move perches or change them out and add some greenery as my finches like to pull the greenery and most ends up on the floor! I only switch them if I'm trying to breed a certain pair or there is a problem with someone plucking or it's time for juvies to be on their own.

If you are doing a major reconstruction of plants and perches, it might be a good idea to put the finches into a temporary cage until you're done. When I try to do things like that, I inevitably let finches out, to fly around the house, and then have to herd them down the hallway into a bedroom to catch them again.
