Okay my gouldian male has been molting because he has all his color now except for a few spots on his head and and back, the female has been doing a lot of molting but now they both have little white things sticking out of there heads and wings. Are those suppose to be pin fethers and what does that mean?

Gouldians have very visible pin feathers when they molt. They will get so ratty-looking, just make sure they have lots of protein during this time, it takes a lot of protein to make new feathers.

okay. so i guess my male is starting to molt again. At first they were just losing grey feathers and getting color and now they both have pin feathers. what are pin feathers? I thought my male was just about done and now they both have pin feathers. protein? I have a normal seed mix that i buy at walmart and they have a dish with a veggie diet mix and a dish with a fruit mix. They get millet every once in a while always have cuttlebone and every once in a while i add vitamin to there water. Is there any protein in that or is there something i need to get?
