Why does my bird do this?

I've noticed that when I blow hot air over my Bourke, she fans out her wings and tail and flattens herself. Only to get right back up when you run out of air.

What's this all about?

(Got some shots with my husband doing it)

Bourke, Scarlet Chested Parakeets and other grass parakeets love to take sun bath. When you blow hot air on your Bourke, she thinks she is under the sun and fans out her wings and tail to take sun bath.

Wow, I thought they were sick! I guess they seem to be trying to lay down on the corner of the aviary? If you hadn't told us they were sunbathing, I'd think they were dying. Whew! Very pretty birds!

In all my years of owning birds, I've never discovered this trick!

She looks so cute in that photo!

Agreed Finchmix22, I too would have thought they were sick, seeing them on the ground like that! Especially with the heavy breathing on the one on the right. But I bet they're just enjoying the warm stones!
