missing feathers

Post by zebra-scott » Sun Oct 26, 2014 9:46 am

I have had my six finches (2 male, 4 female) in the same environment for about 10 months.
In the last few weeks they have been pull feathers from each other. I have not seen more fighting than I have typically seen. Why?

They may be ready to breed and therefore are fighting for mates or the males are being aggressive about getting feathers for nesting material. I'd separate them into pairs or the males together in one cage and the hens in another. Good Luck!

They normally do mate, two females with each male with minimal fighting among all of the birds. At the time when mating, they are a bit more territorial, but this time around it seems much worse. Is there something else?
