I saw a finch in a pet shop today with odd looking feet.
The Petsmart had a finch who's feet looked almost like dragon feet.
I've never seen anything like this and was wondering if anybody knew what it was.
I can't remember what type of finch it was. It's head was like a brown hood. I just thought it didn't look right and was wondering what it was.
There were what looked like little spikes on top of the feet.

I looked up a picture of a Munia and the one I saw could have been one, only the head was a dark brown. I was so appalled by the looks of his feet I hardly remembered the name.poohbear wrote:The bird you describe sounds like a Munia...very old birds can have legs and feet that look painful and scaly.
Paul.
I wish I could find a picture somewhere of feet like this. It's really bothering me. Not only for the fact that there must have been something wrong with the bird, but also that Petsmart was selling it right along with the other finches.

poorbear, that's it exactly. Thank you so much.
I've had an issue with a different Petsmart because of the condition of budgies they were selling. Every green one's tails were terribly bent and frayed. And I know budgies and they weren't young birds. I asked them to look into their supplier and really wanted the breeders name.
Now this is a different Petsmart selling this poor little bird.
Just like with the budgies, I have to keep it real and wonder if anyone is going to buy these birds and what will happen to them.
I hate to see birds in these conditions and I always want to try to do something.
Thanks for finding the website and picture.
