Hello,

I just brought 4 new finches home to complete and balance my bird family. I now have 10 Gouldians and 2 Society finches (Societies are both female).

I thought my ratio was 5-5 male/female with the Gouldians, but now it may be 6/4 male to female, which means I'll either have lots of fights or will have to add 2 more females.

I have a double cage. It is 21" deep, 34" high, and 65" long. Will this be enough room if I need to add 2 more females, having 14 total finches?

Gouldians are not the kind of species that you need to have equal amounts of male to female to prevent fighting. Males get along with males and females get along with females. Though if your going to breed them you should make an effort to have equal numbers. Also if you intend to breed them you should keep the society's out otherwise they will most likely take over the gouldian nests and push off the goulds.
I personally wouldn't put much more then 6 birds in that size cage. If you are breeding them you may have to reduce that number even more depending on the individual personalities of the birds. Each pair will need it's own territory and the others will need to be able to get away from that area. Greens and little hidey hole areas will help some.
