I have always frozen bird food & actually, keep what I can in the freezer.

I was wondering if......once the seed/food is frozen, can it then be kept in plastic storage bins

It wouldn't get bugs anymore if frozen, right
Would it get rancid

My chest freezer is not frost free, which means it has moisture. I store seed in the freezer in moisture proof containers.
I have frozen seed for quite a while without the seeds going bad or rancid but frozen food is not good forever.

I buy too much seed to fit in my freezer, but I keep certain ones in the freezer until needed. I haven't frozen seed and then removed it to put in plastic bins (I think this is what you are asking). The freezing should kill any seed moths/eggs, so I would think this would work. Oily seed especially needs to be kept in the freezer, as it is the first to go rancid.

I keep mine in the freezer, and use one bag at a time that I put in an airtight container, and then keep in the refridgerator.

I keep seed in plastic bags and in plastic containers. Some I feed straight up and some I thaw and make sprouts with. Never had an issue with either. In fact, I will be taking two bags out tomorrow to refill my feed containers.
