vslopes My Virkon-S is also yellow, a yellow powder which for seniors like me smells like a product that used to be sold called Tang. It was a powdered orange drink, nasty stuff IMO. I wonder if the other colors are from the tablets that are sold? I also got the 10# tub. I love this stuff, it is supposed to be such a good disinfectant, and I also have used it when soaking seed (the Mike Fidler method). Remember that the powder is caustic, you should be careful handling it, but once it is dissolved in water, it is perfectly safe. I soak water tubes in this solution, and I dip my bare hands into the bucket to lift out the soaking tubes, but I never touch the powder itself.

I have the tablet version and it's yellowish in color. It smells like chlorine tablets. I don't recommend the tablets. They don't dissolve well taking hours. When I run out, I will buy the powder.

Remember that any disinfectant only works if the surface is clean first. Any kind of organic matter will neutralize (is that the right word?) the disinfectant. Clean first, then disinfect.

I have pink tablets but I got the smallest container (50 tabs?). I wonder if it's just a matter of a different formula?

I haven't used my tablets yet. Have you tried breaking them up first so they're smaller when you start to dissolve them?

the powder has like a citrus smell, yellow color... I prefer the powder because I use it for more than just cleaning.

I think my tablets look pink, but they turn the water yellow when that start dissolving.

Yep, like Tang! I just found out that Tang is still available for sale, I thought it had gone the way of the Edsel. It was fairly popular during the early space flight programs, because it was sent along on space missions for the astronauts to drink. Nasty stuff IMO, but Virkon S reminds me of it!

I have two 10 pound buckets and my powder is yellow. I don't know about Tang Sally but it smells terrible to me. I don't like it at all. Mine dissolves very quickly in the hot water I soak all my tube drinkers and dishes in.

I haven't used it to sprout seeds. But I haven't ever sprouted seeds...I always say I am going to, but I just never do it.

I FINALLY had a successful attempt at sprouting seeds, and I used warm water this time.
