Getting all males ok?

Post by lifeofbrian » Fri Oct 23, 2015 5:46 pm

I have a lone Zebra that I'd like to get some company for, (apart from me and my Cockatiel). I don't want to breed or have any egg laying problems, is it ok to get 3 or 4 male finches of various varieties? I' looking at Java, Parrot, Fawn Star and Gouldian finches.

Yep that's ok... But if you just want him company I would get him another male zebra finch to play and communicate with... It's simpler and he will be happier with his own kind... You can also add the other species that you mention... But for me it's too much cocktail... So it comes back to your preference and taste on that matter... Good luck with your little boy...

I have all male zebras. I had 3 pairs and they got along okay for a while before I had one male that turned into a bully. He had to be removed. Depending on how passive or aggressive your zebra is, you may or may not have the same issue. If he's more passive, you could also try societies.
