Society finch baby ?

Post by tweet67 » Sun Apr 17, 2016 10:17 pm

I think one of the babies hatched today. My husband and I both swear we heard it peeping this morning. I even found half of the hatched egg outside of the nest later in the day...so I know something is going on in the nest.
My question is....are the babies normally noisy or quiet? I haven't heard any peeping since this morning
Thanks

I haven't had Society babies in ages, so I'm not sure any more how long it takes for them to get noisy. Most finch babies aren't too noisy for the first few days. Often, if there is just one or maybe two babies, the parents will keep them so stuffed that they have no need to beg, so they will be more quiet.

Just heard some peeping coming from the nest this morning =D> I really wish I could see it but there's always at least one of the four finches I the nest.

Congrats! As the babies get bigger, the adults will spend less time in the nest, and you will probably be able to get a peek in the nest. Societies are one species that will tolerate nest checks very well, they don't seem to mind us looking at their babies.
