When are zebra finches adults?

I have another 3 babies, about 5 to 6 weeks old. How long before I can tell if they are male or female?

They should start showing markings soon. Here is a good timeline for zebras:

Most of my zeb male babies start showing faint breast bars before anything else, but each bird molts a bit differently.

One of the birds is getting the brown on the sides with the white dots, so he's a male! We'll have to see if the other 2 are females.
I separated the male from mom and the babies because she lays so many eggs and wanted her to rest a bit before the next clutch! I didn't realize how much they multiply!
Do other kinds of finches breed as much?

Kathycorvette Zebras and Societies are the rabbits of the finch world. It is sometimes difficult to stop them, and separating the sexes is the only sure way.
