How to know the age of parrot finch ?

hello friends as the subject says can any tell me what to look for when we r looking for young parrot finch which is about a year or year n half old, i am pretty bad in selecting young birds,and if the bird is a pied what to look for thank you guys

sharath1 I try and buy birds from breeders that I trust. If possible, I buy birds that are still colouring up, then I know they are less than a year old. Because parrotfinches are sought after it is normally the old or duds that makes it way to the petshops. Where pied is concerned, I will be vary careful. Pied becomes more pied as they get older. Pied cocks very quickly becomes infertile in my experience. Breeders tend to unload their pieds when they become infertile. Sometimes at 2-3 years old and I stay away from pieds nowadays.
