Travel Carrier ?

I think I probably need to invest in a travel carrier, in the event I need to take one of the Gouldians to a Vet. What I've seen so far appear way to large to transport finches in. Does anyone know of a good
smaller travel carrier that would be suitable?

I use a small carrier that you often find at marts, many vendors use these for one or two finches. They usually sell for about $5. The down side is that you can't find these anywhere except at marts, as the pet shops don't carry them. To order them online, you have to order a case. What I use is #0 or 604 at this link:

You could look at a pet shop and get the smallest cage they have with no larger than 1/2" spacing on the bars. You don't want to spend a lot, since this is a cage you may never use. A travel cage is too small to be used as a hospital cage. You can use a travel cage to put birds in temporarily while you wash their cage.

I make out very well with those cardboard boxes for birds. They come in many sizes, can be ordered online or you may be able to get some from your local pet shop. Because it is solid the birds stay very calm and they get no drafts, especially important with a sick or injured bird. The last thing you want to do is freak out an already compromised bird.

Yes, like that one though I like the ones with all holes across the top and not big and scattered like that. No need to pop all of them out though to cut down on drafts.

If you do a google search "cardboard bird carry boxes" all different sizes and configurations come back

I dont like anything the bird can get their wing caught in or break a leg if they panic.

I've successfully used this one for up to 2 finches on short transports with some coco fibre at the bottom and a very small ceramic dish for water and I throw in a tiny sprig of millet. $6.99 here at Petsmart

Easy to put them in and pull them out out via the little trap door on the top. I throw a black dishtowel over the top when I get in the car to keep it dark and prevent panicks.

Yes - I do like the Critter Keeper, and I did look at that before and considered it. I may get it. I also like the cage from GlamGouldians a lot too. :D

I use these... The wire ones fit inside a cat litter pan and I put a light towel over it to help keep them calm. Great for shopping at shows too.

I like the bottom one - the bird/finch traveling carrier case. Where can I find it ? The link doesn't work.
