Lonchura Chicks Don't Make Noise?

Post by rdlp123 » Thu Jul 07, 2016 8:00 am

Hi all. I have a question (a minor question, but it's been in my head for a few days and I am really curious to confirm), but someone told me that Lonchura babies don't really make begging noises? This is coming for a new acquaintance I made here in the Philippines (vacationing at the moment) who claims to be a hobby breeder of spice finches and other Asian Lonchura species. He says that chicks, even feathered ones, will simply open their mouth when asking for food but do not make the loud, raucous begging noises that say, zebra finch chicks make. Is this true? I would think the little guys made begging noises. Even doves make begging noises and they are pretty demure adults!

I had spice and society babies and they scream for food as much as zebras do, so I don't know what they're talking about!
